Who We Are

We are a community of therapists who aim to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where individuals and couples can process their inner thoughts, emotions, and behaviors as they relate to past, present, and future experiences. Through personalized and evidence-based approaches, we work with clients to facilitate self-discovery, promote mental and emotional well-being, and foster meaningful relationships.

Why the name Sequoia?

The name Sequoia Counseling Collective was born from both meaning and memory.

Sequoia trees are among the oldest and most resilient living things on Earth — they don’t just survive, they endure. They grow slowly, with deep roots, weathering drought, fire, and storm across thousands of years. And remarkably, sequoias actually need fire to release their seeds and regenerate. There is something profoundly true in that — that growth doesn’t happen despite hardship, but often because of it.

That truth became personal for me during one of the most meaningful and challenging seasons of my own life, when I found myself solo camping among these ancient giants. Surrounded by that stillness, that scale, that quiet strength, something shifted. Those trees became a mirror — a reminder that we are capable of far more than we realize, that difficulty can crack us open in the most necessary ways, and that we don’t have to move fast to grow deep.

That experience shaped how I think about healing. At Sequoia Counseling Collective, we believe in the kind of growth that takes time — rooted, intentional, and built to last.
